The WB-2 satellite re-entry and associated airspace controls are now scheduled to occur within a window open from 13 February to 21 March 2025.
In August 2024, Southern Launch consulted on a proposed airspace management solution to facilitate safe separation between aircraft and the WB-2 satellite during re-entry to the Koonibba Test Range.
Please be advised that the WB-2 satellite return is now scheduled for the first day of a window running from 13 February to 21 March 2025.
A Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) and Temporary Danger Area (TDA) will be established for approximately 70 minutes on or around midnight on the target return date. Airservices Australia will serve as the contact and Controlling Authority for the declared airspace. Mission timings and the final TRA/TDA activation window will be promulgated by Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) on the National Aeronautical Information Processing System (NAIPS) one week prior to the return.
Southern Launch will issue local safety broadcasts over the Ceduna Common Traffic Advisory Frequency (CTAF) in the immediate lead-up to the return. Refer to the attachment for a description of the airspace hazard area boundaries. Further information will be published on Southern Launch's website, linked below, and kept updated should the target return date or mission particulars change. Please contact Southern Launch at the details provided with any questions or feedback.
