The Joint Airspace Control Cell requests feedback on a proposed temporary restricted area (TRA) to encompass military flying and live fire activities between Delamere Range and Bradshaw Field Training Area.
This proposal notes the following key issues:
Elements of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) will be conducting military flying and live fire activities over the period 27 – 28 July 2023.
The intention is to activate a TRA which encompasses the airspace between Delamere Range (R232) and Bradshaw Field Training Area (R268) to facilitate military flying and live fire activities.
TRA-RUMBLE is proposed for the period 27 – 28 July 2023, with up to 2 hours of activation occurring on each day.
For simplicity, TRA-RUMBLE has been designed as a single volume of airspace, adjoining and sharing common boundaries with R232 and R268, from SFC-FL600. This airspace will wholly contain live fire effects and flying activities occurring within.
Air routes Z35, W226, W605, W614 and A461 are affected by this activity. Extant diversion routes used for R225 may be utilised to remain clear of active airspace, this shall be confirmed in aeronautical information package supplements (AIP SUP).
D236A COOLIBAH CORRIDOR NORTH VFR TRANSIT LANE and D236B COOLIBAH CORRIDOR SOUTH VFR TRANSIT LANE will not be available during TRA-RUMBLE activation times.
Specific timings of PRD and TRA airspace activation will be confirmed in NOTAM.
Access to TRA-RUMBLE, R232 and R268 by non-military aircraft is not available except for aircraft with a declared emergency or operating in the preservation of life or property (medivac, fire and flood recovery, police, search and rescue).
Refer to Figure 1 for a depiction of TRA-RUMBLE, R232 and R268.
