Review of extant airspace has resulted in proposed new segment boundaries along with the addition of new segments to support Defence training outcomes.

The issue

Greater flexibility for partial activation of R732.
W841/ J138 available where operations (R732 and R751) do not require activation of the proposed R737 B,E,G, J.
Majority of activation will require proposed R737A-J to support military exercises (Exercise Crimson Dawn or High Sierra).
Base of 7000 feet above mean sea level, except proposed R737 J which is Flight Level 120 to support Kidston operations.

Purpose

Defence regularly generates temporary airspace in support of Townsville based training activities. This proposal is intended to add new areas and review the existing airspace segment boundaries.

Proposal

The airspace is proposed to replace extant airspace as per the definitions below. In addition, New danger areas to replace D744 are also proposed for the airspace below the proposed airspace. The restricted airspace is intended to be from 7000 feet, as per current airspace, except for the northwestern most portion, which will have a base of FL120 to avoid impacting flights to Kidston.

Proposed R737 G, H, J are new volumes of airspace which are based upon the temporary airspace which has been used regularly over the last few years.
Proposed R737 A is intended to support limited activities which occur between R751 and R736/9 to avoid the use of partial activations as per the current process.
The proposed segment volumes would also support operations to R732 Greenvale.
