WB-2 Satellite Re-entry to the Koonibba Test Range - Update 27/08/2024

On this page

Southern Launch would like to thank the forum members for their engagement and feedback on the proposed airspace management solution for the WB-2 satellite return. The responses supported the layered temporary restricted area (TRA) and temporary danger area (TDA) solution and noted that the night-time return and limited activation window would result in no or minimal impact on routine operations.

Upon further consultation with the Australian Space Agency and the United States Federal Aviation Administration, the boundaries for the hazard areas have been expanded slightly to more conservatively accord with the American standards. Notably, the offset between the TRA and Ceduna Airport has been reduced to approximately 1 nautical mile. Please see the link below for the latest TRA and TDA boundaries.

We encourage airspace users to continue providing feedback on the proposal to Eamon Lawson, Regulatory Lead – Southern Launch at <eamon.lawson@southernlaunch.space>. Please also refer to the Southern Launch website for the latest update on mission timings.
